Apr. 14th, 2009 @ 05:03 pm Wondering
What if the only roles available to me are: Victim and Asshole. Weigh the pros and cons.

Victim: Hurts real bad, but moral high ground
Asshole: Hurts (slightly) less, but people don't like you as much.

If we can equate not being liked with pain, and moral high ground with un-pain, then by my calculations they are EXACTLY the same amount of ouch.

Wouldn't THAT suck!

9. What's your philosophy on life? When I am at my best: Love is all there is. Is that lame?

10. Tell me one odd/interesting fact about you: I like to write dichotomies or pairs of aspects of myself on the inside of my chucks (shoes, you know). As in virgin/slut, dilettante/debutante. I haven't written on the current pair yet.

11. What is the craziest thing you've ever done? Live with the Sears, maybe. I'm kind of tame, huh?

12. Ever been arrested/ gone to jail? No.

13. What attracts you to someone first? If they make me laugh and have good manners.

14. If you could change anything about the world, would you? Well, that is kind of the plan.

16. what is your favorite memory of us (if you don't have one..... say a memory you WANT to make with me!)? The best day of my life. Also, the time Glendening kept interrupting you and said, "here, let me put words in your mouth," and you said, "Let me take them out again." Or when we all sang for hours in the hot springs. Even though you got carsick after.

17. What is your favorite thing to do in the world? Swim outside.

18. Where (ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD) would you take me on a date if I asked you? Mount Desert Island, Maine.

19. If I only had one day to live, what would we do together? Probably cry. It's what I do.

20. Will you post this so I can fill it out for you? Mmmmmhm.

Received today:

"On behalf of President Bush, thank you for your correspondence.

We appreciate hearing your views and welcome your suggestions.

Due to the large volume of e-mail received, the White House cannot respond to every message.

Thank you again for taking the time to write."

I am reading between the lines (easy because they double-spaced a really short, impersonal e-mail, I guess to make it look more substantial than the snub it clearly is) and finding this really heartening. Because it's actually really hard to e-mail the president; which is to say, you CAN NO LONGER E-MAIL THE PRESIDENT directly. And still, the White House receives a "large volume of e-mail." Because people are that pissed. Good for us.

Current Mood: accomplishedalmost frantically domestic
Little Girl (during reading of book about beavers): "My aunt has a t-shirt, and on the back it says 'There's nothing better than a healthy beaver.'"
Me: "Well, that's true."

Little boy #1: "Do you like the Redwings?"
Little boy #2: "No."
Little boy #1: *gasps* "You're EVIL!"

Me: "What are these keys for?"
Supervisor: "Those are to the back door."
My teaching partner: "I could've used THOSE last night!"

Little boy (nephew of lesbians): "Yeah, and my aunt lives here in Maine, and my other aunt does too, and she lives with her, and they're pretty much always together. It's crazy."

Little boy #1: "Do you think Satan is real?"
Little boy #2: "Mmm, it depends."

(boys have been flinging large rocks violently into the sea, then sit down and try to smash them on other rocks)
Little boy #1: "Now we're in a workshop."
Little boy #2: "Santa's workshop."

Little boy to me: "My brother had SEX ED!"

I live in this fancy house now, in Maine. I've slept two nights here so far. We have chickens, and I think they can get into the house, because today I found a big old bowl shattered on the floor, and a pile of chicken shit on the dresser in the spot where the bowl used to stand.
